WHO WE ARE

Lisa Hurda - Director of Advancement & Foundation

Lisa was born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin, where her parents instilled in her a love for learning, a hard work ethic, and the importance of caring for others. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/Middle Level Education from UW – La Crosse, she inspired elementary and middle school students for five years before transitioning into leadership roles in the non-profit arena for the next 15 years.

Lisa feels a connection to Blackhawk’s mission and vision through the enriching work of the Blackhawk Technical College Foundation. “On a daily basis, I have the privilege and honor to work with donors, alumni, and industry partners to make college possible for our Blackhawk students through their transformational giving. Together, we are not only empowering their dreams but also building and strengthening our communities with a vibrant workforce.”

Away from the office, Lisa and her husband, Craig, can be found on any nearby pickleball court playing their favorite sport. Off the court, Lisa describes herself as an outdoor adventurist at heart – whether that is kayaking, hiking, biking or just soaking in the sun during our Wisconsin summers. Lisa and Craig also are strong believers of “little adventures” so they enjoy gallivanting across the state and country at every opportunity.

Lenny Behnke - College Advancement Assistant

Lenny grew up on a farm in Centralia, Iowa, a small town just west of Dubuque.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business, Lenny worked for two higher education textbook publishers in Dubuque. After switching to financial advising for the past few years, he’s glad to be back in the education sector.

Lenny embraces Blackhawk’s mission of providing a flexible education in a supportive environment.

“Working in the higher education environment and to have an impact on helping students achieve higher education and careers is important,” he said. “ I love the vision for the future and how far Blackhawk has come to fulfilling goals.”

Away from the office, Lenny and his husband, Jeff Woods, who works in The Print Center, enjoy biking, kayaking and cocktails on their patio. They are also avid Star Trek fans.
